Jim Vagonis
Founder and President
Hassle Free Home Services, Inc.
Vice President
Hassle Free Home Improvements, Inc.
Jim Vagonis launched Hassle Free Home Services Inc. in
December 2002 to address the glaring need for high quality
home maintenance, repair and improvement services in the
greater Washington area. In doing so he married his lifelong
passion for home improvement with his desire to launch a
business that would make an immediate and appreciable impact on the lives of its customers. The result, Hassle Free Home Services, takes the worry out of caring for one's single largest investment while allowing clients to enjoy their homes like never before.
Prior to launching Hassle Free Home Services, Jim spent 17 years in information technology, most recently serving as director of information technology for PG&E's National Energy Group. He now applies the critical skills from his former career, including leadership, team building, problem solving and client service, to ensure that his new customers enjoy a truly hassle free experience.
While Jim's professional background has been in information technology, he has been an avid home improver for more than 25 years. Before turning to home services as a full-time profession, Jim undertook such projects as kitchen, bathroom and basement remodeling for his relatives and in his own home. Starting at the age of 10, he spent entire summers developing a broad array of home maintenance and improvement skills. Indeed, from his earliest days he developed an appreciation for quality craftsmanship and attention to detail while working in his father's woodshop.
In addition to his professional interests, Jim has been actively involved in the Rockville, MD volunteer fire department since 1991 and has risen to the level of captain. In that capacity he manages a shift of 15 personnel for one of the busiest fire departments in the country. When not fighting fires and fixing leaks, Jim spends his time with his wife of 10 years Pat, daughters Christine and Lillian, and his son Justin.
Michael E. "Mickey" Taff
Founder and President
Hassle Free Home Improvements, Inc.
Vice President
Hassle Free Home Services, Inc.
After more than twenty years managing residential, multi-family,
commercial, industrial and retail construction projects,
Mickey Taff recognized that he could offer something truly
unique in the home improvement market: a service that
combines the professionalism and accountability of large
corporate providers with the affordability offered by independent
contractors. With that in mind, he founded Hassle Free Home Improvements, Inc. to bring high-end renovation and improvement services to the average homeowner.
Throughout his career as a construction project manager, Mickey learned the importance of delivering quality results on time and under budget. With projects ranging in budget from several thousand to tens of millions of dollars, Mickey has encountered - and overcome - every conceivable challenge in the construction industry. Mickey now brings his extensive experience to the individual homeowner.
Mickey launched Hassle Free Home Improvements, Inc. to help customers overcome the most common concerns associated with home projects: fear of the cost, lack of integrity and professionalism, the disruption and duration of the project, and overall lack of quality and service to the customer. Using management skills honed during his professional career, Mickey has built Hassle Free Home Improvements upon the fundamental belief that customers should know what to expect before they embark on a project and that contractors should deliver on their promises. Above all, the Hassle Free approach to home improvement recognizes the importance of making the project as painless for the customer as possible by minimizing the mess and disruption associated with such work.
Mickey currently serves on the membership committee with Germantown BNI (Business Networking International). He has been actively involved in the Rockville Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees) for over a decade and has held numerous offices including Chapter President. His professional accomplishments include winning the ABC Washington 'Project of the Year' award for the $ 25 million, 8-story 10 G Street office building and garage in Washington, DC, across from Union Station. Mickey lives in Germantown, MD with his wife, Jane, and their three daughters, Rebecca, Jennifer and Emily. Mickey is also an avid golfer.
